My Mission

My mission is to make the world a better place, one user experience at a time. 

Bad user experiences are all around - whether it be: a frustrating website layout, an app that doesn’t do what you want it to do, a confusing touchscreen interface, a poorly laid out instruction manual for self-assembled furniture, or even just a badly designed coffee pot. 

I believe that every bad user experience is a design problem waiting to be solved.  

As a user experience designer, I want to help deliver the solutions.

My Process

Using the above framework I conduct user interviews and competitive analysis to construct an empathetic perspective of the user pain points and opportunities they present.

I then channel my user insights into simple, elegant and impactful deign solutions, which undergo rigorous usability testing to refine the design, validate assumptions and deliver the final product. 


1) Empathise  

First things first, I ask a lot of questions. My goal is to build empathy: with the users, with the business objectives, and with the technical feasibility.

Asking the right questions, then listening to people's responses, observing their actions and understanding their needs, aspirations, fears and frustrations will uncover meaningful truths and opportunities.

I want to empathise with the people I am designing for. Uncovering the most desirable solution to a problem begins by asking: who?, what?, why?, where?, when?, and how? 

2) Define 

After asking questions, it’s time to bring clarity and focus to the problem space. 

I synthesize my customer insights and research findings to uncover connections and patterns that will enable me to define the design challenge. 

This is where I solidify an actionable problem statement that will drive the design work. 

3) Ideate 

I begin the ideation phase by asking “How might we…?”. 

This is where I generate ideas and potential solutions for the challenge I am trying to solve. 

Here I combine tangible problem solving with limitless imagination to generate compelling ideas and bring them to life through analog sketches and low-fidelity wireframes. 

4) Prototype 

This is where a working solution begins to take shape through rapid prototyping. 

I believe that it is vital to test early and test often to learn sooner, adapt quickly, save time and reduce risk. 

Creating an interactive prototype from low-fidelity wireframes enables me to quickly get a tangible artifact into the hands of the user and start a conversation. 

5) Test & Validate 

Getting a prototype into the hands of the user allows me to swiftly test and validate assumptions and design decisions, learn more about the user, and iterate as needed. 

I typically run 5 rounds of user testing. After each session I create a session output document to capture my findings. 

I then cycle back through the ideate and prototype stages to draft solutions to any design flaws or issues uncovered and update the interactive prototype for the next round of user testing. 

6) Deliver

After multiple rounds of user testing it is time to craft the final high-fidelity assets and deliver the final product. 

At this stage I will deliver the final design, UI library and style guides.
